September 30 Prayer
“Let the words of my mouth and the meditations of my heart be pure, pleasing and acceptable to You, O Lord, my rock and my redeemer.” I pause to take in my thoughts and let them go. If only I could stay in this posture without opening my mouth. Thank God that He is our redeemer and our protector especially when we do speak and our words are not really that helpful. We can take note and stop and start over again next time. ‘There is this wonderful world, the glory of creation that speaks to us daily without any words. Their voice is not heard, yet their voice goes out through all the earth. The world can hear it’s echo for God's story is everywhere.’ Psalm 19. (My own adaptation.) As I sit on this beautiful island with the trade winds blowing and ever changing skies, I cannot help but listen. I really do not want to speak. Lord, please let my life come from a heart that is thoughtful and centered and when necessary let me speak words. May they be kind, helpful and meaningful. Help us all to really listen and hear the echo of your heart for all. Let the words of my mouth and the meditations of my heart be acceptable this day. Amen Psalm 19 Dee Brill September 28 Prayer
Where does the Lord Dwell? Is it high above us Or deep below? Is the place where his presence dwells too far for us to reach? Or is it right here, within where God lives by his spirit? He is making a place within each of us when we allow him to come near. When we clear out the clutter, the business of the mind, the overwhelming tasks at hand and come. Pray; I am here to begin again in a new way to come a little closer to You. Show me in this day the places you are alive in me and alive in the world around me. In Christ all things are held together. So today, as your followers Jesus, May we be a part of the work you are creating in us. May we reach out with a hand to help and a heart to love deeply what you love. May we have a new perspective today to see beyond the horizon. To Where you Dwell. Amen Ephesians 2:22 Dee Brill September 27 Prayer
‘All hope, all faith and all trust is in You For everything we have is yours.’ Then why is it so difficult to let go of control? To want to know every detail of your plans for me? Knowledge is power and oh how we all desire power. So the first area of our ego to let go of is there. ‘Trust in the Lord with all your heart Rely not on your own understanding. Seek God's will in all you do and He will make your path clear.’ Pr.3:5 It’s not that God doesn’t want to tell us everything but that He knows when to tell us what we need to know. Trust is the doorway to clarity. Ask questions, pursue counsel and wait faithfully upon a faithful God that desires to fulfill his plans for you more than you do. So with open hands before heaven pray a prayer of trust and then receive his peace in every area of your life. Lord, everything is yours already, the hours and days ahead. May we become more aware of the very cloud of presence going before us today. As the path becomes more defined may we completely rely upon your plan to be accomplished in and through us on this earth. Bring the peace that you have destined for us from the beginning of all time. Amen Dee Brill Saturday Slow Down
A Blessing in the fog Slowdown in what you see There may be something else that you have not noticed before When the fog is so thick That it covers your vista when things are not clear and you want to fight through the fog Slowdown in the middle of the wet mist And don’t resist In it Walk through it letting even the unknown comfort you Be still and know In the slowing down of it all You just might find that Today is the gift that you have been waiting for. You just might find that you enjoy it when you slow down to notice. Blessings Dee Brill September 24 Prayer
‘One day there will be a greater glory revealed on the earth.’ That’s why we are told to take courage, take hold of hope when things seem to go bad. ‘In this place I will give you peace.’ Then the glory of the lord will fill this place. This place, this house, You. We together with one voice reveal a greater glory. With one heart fixed on Jesus who reveals the Father’s enduring, never ending love. We pause to breathe in deep this light of love and hope to fill our bodies now, And pray; Fill us with peace where we fret, Compassion where we judge, Hope when we are despairing, And joy for what is yet to come. A greater glory A future greater than our past. Thank You, Creator of the earth, sky and sea. Open us wide to your glory this day. In ever interruption and question that is asked of us May we respond with a sense of your glory here and now. Move on us as we pray and make us one with you to reveal a greater glory for today. Amen Haggai 2:1-4, 2Chron.5:13-14 Dee Brill September 23 Prayer
“How good God is, blessed are you who run to him. He takes delight in his children. Sing to the Lord a new song.” He takes delight in us, enjoys us, loves us even when we worry. Thinking of all the places that I find joy and delight. A walk on the sandy shore, floating upon the waters of the sea, and my most happy place, in the sea with all the wonderful creatures and sea world under. All my cares seem to vanish there when I am entrenched with beauty and wonder. The sights and sounds, tastes and smells surround me and bring me joy. And a new song arrives within me. There are places that are just for you. Places of discovery, places of joy and delight. When you allow yourself to let go of worry you will find a spacious opening in your soul. Then your eyes may see and your mouth may taste how good God is. There is so much trouble all around that can weigh down your heart and mind. Take the time, anytime to run to him. Like a good Papa ready to receive you with open arms. He will lift you up high, higher than the circumstances to draw you close into his heart. It’s time to sing a brand new song! Wherever you are and whatever you are feeling let a spontaneous song rise up from within you. Begin to feel the weightlessness of your body as you are lifted up from the weights of worry that keep you down. Begin to sing your new song and let it become your prayer. Amen Ps. 149:1-4, Ps.34:8 Dee Brill September 22 Prayer
To Proclaim the kingdom of God we are to take nothing for the journey. We leave the old ways of thinking behind to make space for the new to arrive along the way. New clothing and shoes for when they wear out. Even a new walking stick we may find to lean on feels different in the head. When you find yourself comparing the old to the new and wrestle with the questions look for his Holy Spirit to come and guide you. Look inside of you for what really satisfies your soul. What time and season are you in on the journey? Pause to sit with the questions that arise within you…. Praying ; ‘Jesus, you came to show us the ways of God and You are the way. May we let go of the old pathways that led us into slavery and follow your ways of grace and peace. For you alone satisfy and will give to us all that we need to make the journey. We surrender to the reformation of how we think. Empower us to discern your beautiful will for our lives where we are in constant communion with You at all times. We allow and accept this season in our lives, be it celebration or mourning for you alone will satisfy our souls. May hope burst forth into our holy human form to proclaim the goodness of God. We will not give up along the way when trouble comes, for you will guide and provide for what we need. We take nothing on this journey that will cloud the way. May we discover the new along the path as we take this day’s journey and find where it will lead us. Together in one hope, one new life, one household of God for your glory to dwell. Amen Lk.9:1-6, Rom.12:1-2,12, Ps.3:5 Dee Brill September 21 Prayer
What does it mean to encounter mercy? For Matthew it was being called to follow Jesus, when not one of his brother’s accepted him. For he was despised as a bad boy. Yet somehow he knew he needed a healer. He knew that he was the one that needed mercy. Pause here to look into your own heart... Where do you feel lesser than, not enough, or too much to handle? Where does your humanness get in the way of revealing the divine presence of Jesus? Here is where I need mercy, everyday when my heart is triggered and I fall so short of love. Falling short of a kind response instead I become a critic. So in my own not enoughness I need mercy! In my own humanness I need to encounter divine mercy. Sweet Jesus, Son of God, Lord of mercy, have mercy on me. I accept your grace now. May I know and encounter your mercy in my humanness. For there is Your heart known in my own heart. I accept your love for me now where I hurt and where I am in need. Have mercy on us Lord, Heal our hearts so we may know love and be a givers of mercy, a reconciler and a peacemaker in our world. May we be so filled with your love in our hearts that your divine mercy is displayed in our own humanity. Thank you Jesus for calling us your own. May we live up to this calling by following every prompting of your spirit today. At the end of the day may we see where you called us And where we followed. And in our shortcomings let us receive mercy to start another day in grace. May we each encounter mercy this day in such a way that we are no longer the same. “Oh that we might know the Lord! Let us press on to know him. He will respond to us as surely as the arrival of the dawn.” Amen. Matt.9:9-13, Eph.4:1-7, Hosea 6:3 Dee Brill September 20 Prayer
“To those who have, more will be given.” ..for those who have open hearts, even more revelation will be given until it overflows.” ‘Pay attention to how you listen. Watch, and wait.’ A majestic full harvest moon set over the ocean this morning. It’s glow filled the sky with warm beams that spread and touched me though far away I watched and waited to see it eventually fade away. But my heart was filled with light and hope to start another day. Today I want to pay attention to what I hear, and to what I see. I am only one small container to hold this kind of light, this kind of love from the Father above. So today as you start or end the day, let the light come shine on all that you have been given. All that your little heart can hold until it overflows with gratitude. Everything you have, everything you are, Thank him for it. ‘Be content, to live carefree before God, for he is most careful with you.’ Praying, ‘Jesus, you fill me with such love, and goodness, Thank you for the light to see all that I have and all that is mine to give away. Thank you Father, Daddy, for you always lift me up with a strong hand to hold me. Oh, that I may trust you more to listen to my heart where your light of love lives. Let your light flow and overflow from me today. May I always be grateful in everything without the fear that it will be taken away. I humble myself before you this day to listen more carefully so that I may understand more deeply. This forever song I will sing,‘Your Love never fails.’ Amen Lk.8:16-18, 1Pet.5:6, Ps.89:1 Dee Brill September 18 Prayer
Saturday SlowDown It’s Saturday slow down Open the door slowly that has been closed where you see the glimmer of light through the cracks of the doorway. Let the light come through as the door gently opens before you and cast their beams upon the floor. Sit here awhile as the light becomes a surrounding presence wrapping around you as a soft light comforter. Jesus is here when you open the door He comes in. Let all the heavy weights of the past week fall off of your shoulders to hear his voice speaking to you. He is the door, and the doorway that opens now. Let the light come in to point the way for the day In this slow down As you open the door May your heart be lifted up with God’s eternal light. Amen Dee Brill Psalm 119:130,Rev 3:7,20,John 10:3 |
