August 31 Prayer
“Trust GOD from the bottom of your heart; don’t try to figure out everything on your own. Listen for GOD ’s voice in everything you do, everywhere you go; he’s the one who will keep you on track. Don’t assume that you know it all. Proverbs 3:5-12 MSG ‘I did not come with clever speech nor persuasive words but only to know Jesus and the power of the cross. That your faith might rest not on human wisdom but on the power of God.1Cor2:1-5 Trust, what do we trust in and rely on? With knowledge so easily accessible and words proclaimed all around us it is easy to think we know everything. ‘The wisdom we speak of is the mystery of God’ vs7 Let’s pause and let go of all that we think we know and rest in this mystery of Christ’s power in us. We can rest in the not knowing of everything and in everything we know in God we are being held. May we look for Jesus in everything , Where one suffers , He is there , Where there is a wrong he will make it right. He gives us the power to forgive The power to love unconditionally those we disagree with. Power to live in line with God’s voice in everything. We give you our own wisdom , our own knowing so we may truly trust in your power in us. May we rest and trust in this power, the mystery of your wisdom To blow our minds beyond our imaginations into what you have ‘prepared for those who love you .’ God, you are the power of wisdom . To whom we say,Wow, and Thanks! Amen August 29 Prayer
‘Jesus became for us wisdom from God.’ “The way you counsel and correct me makes me praise you more, for your whispers in the night give me wisdom, showing me what to do next.” Psalms 16:7 TPT Beloved, when you are corrected it is for your own growth. When you seek counsel you are being open for wisdom in your life. Jesus is wisdom and will bring what you need when you are able to bow low to receive. We do not boast in our own knowing or in our thinking that we are something without God. ‘For God chose the lowly and despised of the world, those who count for nothing, to reduce to nothing those who are something. So that no human being might boast before God.’ 1Cor.1:26-31 It is not that God doesn’t want us to be something but that he wants us to be everything in Him. There is freedom and joy in correction, in guidance when we let Jesus show up in us. Wisdom comes in the form of Jesus. Receive this blessing today. Blessed be Christ in you In the emptying of yourself will be the filling. in the turning will be the way made straight. In the stillness will be the joy of knowing you are beloved, and a cared for child of God. In the nothings, in the despised and rejected of the world there is the exalted presence of Mercy, and Purpose will be found in the humble. Blessed be the eyes that are open to see Jesus there in the things that are cast away, the people that are not seen, and to find wisdom in their worth. Blessed be the work that is placed before you this day the next thing you have to do, and may you find joy in it and life comes from it. May we all become nothing so we may boast in the everything God is doing and being. May we learn from Jesus our wisdom teacher. Amen August 28 prayer
Wisdom prepares. It is awake and ready. Matt.25 Wisdom consists of doing the next thing you have to do, doing it with your whole heart. Finding delight in doing it’ Meister Eckhart -14th century Monk We all lack wisdom, because in and of ourselves we hold our own thoughts and ways. To be able to admit we do not have all the answers nor all the questions is to bow low before the One who does. His alone understands the way to wisdom and where her place is. It is in holy reverence of the God who holds all things together .that we will find wisdom and understanding and when we avoid that which is evil. He is the One who will guide us with his loving kindness and wisdom if we chose to follow his lead . Where do you need wisdom today ? Pause and offer up your whole heart to be awakened to his wisdom and understanding . St Augustine prays; ’ My soul is like a house, small for you to enter, but I pray you to enlarge it. It is in ruins, but I ask you to remake it.’ ‘’Lord, come and show us the way forward to follow you in true wisdom in our hearts. Make us open to becoming whole in all we do and think. We admit that our hearts are in ruins and trust in you to remake and renew them . Let us find the wisdom way that leads to delight as we take one step closer to you with bowed hearts and bend our wills in surrender to yours. ‘Teach us to number our days and guide our steps in wisdom ‘ Ps.90:12 Have your way in us and lead us to do the next thing you have for us to do, with reverence and delight. Praise be to the One who fills our days with your faithful love. May we all bring Your love to others in our actions, our words and deeds. Amen ‘At dawn fill us with your faithful love, we shall delight and rejoice in all our days’ Ps. 90 August 27 Prayer
“Just think—you don’t need a thing, you’ve got it all! All God’s gifts are right in front of you as you wait expectantly for our Master Jesus to arrive on the scene for the Finale. And not only that, but God himself is right alongside to keep you steady and on track until things are all wrapped up by Jesus. God, who got you started in this spiritual adventure, shares with us the life of his Son and our Master Jesus. He will never give up on you. Never forget that.” 1 Corinthians 1:7-9 MSG Paul wrote this to a very divided church at the time and then he urged them to get along and live in harmony for the sake of Christ’s name. We have been given all the spiritual gifts we need to live our lives in the name of Jesus. His name is his glory and character. His gifts are wisdom and discernment. His name is unity .. ‘Rather be of one mind, united in thought and purpose. Put to rest any divisions that attempts to tear apart . Be restored to one another’ What is the one thought and purpose that is Jesus? What did He come to do? Pause to pray and ask for what you need to be united in one thought and purpose this day . ‘In your name Jesus , the anointed one, we ask for all of your gifts to be displayed through us, your church. We thank you that it is by your grace and peace freely given through Jesus Christ that makes this possible . We are weak and weary of trying to get our points across and trust that you are the one that brings truth and unity. Pour out your spirit upon us as when you opened the scroll of Isaiah, bringing sight to the blind, hope for the poor, release for the burdened and battered, setting the prisoners free.’ Lk.4:18 May we see ourselves in all of these. May we have the same spirit that is in you, Jesus to partner with you in this work here on earth. Thank you that we do have all the gifts we need. So we ask for unity to happen in and through us to live worthy of your name. We receive the grace and peace to rest in the knowledge that You never give up on us, ever! Now go in peace and be makers of peace. In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen August 26 prayer
“Whenever my busy thoughts were out of control, the soothing comfort of your presence calmed me down and overwhelmed me with delight.” Psalms 94:19 TPT A blessing- ‘Blessed are those who have confessed their erring ways, who have asked for forgiveness. Blessed are those whose burdens have been lifted, who are able to respond with love. For the Beloved walks with them and speaks to them in silence; with mercy and compassion, they are held in Love’s heart; all who are at one with Love will live in peace and harmony. ‘ Be still enough to allow The Holy Spirit to calm your thoughts and fill you with the presence of joy. Let him take your burdens and all the errors in the soul. Everything you have failed to do and promises you have not kept. See His holy hands sweep away all that keeps you from his presence and fill you with mercy. Respond to Love with gratitude giving back Lord, beautiful Love, you have brought a blessing upon your people who say yes to you today. We ask for forgiveness for all the ways we have not lived in harmony and love. Fill us with the power to be and do what we were designed to be and do. Fill us with the power of this blessing to fulfil your promise here on earth to bring your mercy and compassion. That we will take this blessing and be a blessing to others in what we say and do. Bring new strength to the weary and weak. New hope to the down cast and grieving. New peace to live together in harmony. May we see ourselves and others being held in your heart . A heart that is infinitely larger than ours . We return everything we are and plan to be back to you. Let this blessing come forth! We sing; Bless the Lord, O my soul, and all that is within me, Bless His Holy name.’ Amen ‘You will be a blessing and all will be blessed through you.’Gen.12:2-3 August 25 Prayer
“You are always and dearly loved by God! So robe yourself with virtues of God, since you have been divinely chosen to be holy. Be merciful as you endeavor to understand others, and be compassionate, showing kindness toward all. Be gentle and humble, unoffendable in your patience with others.” Colossians 3:12 TPT How do you see yourself clothed today? What are you wearing inside your soul ? Are you concerned enough about what is going on inside of you as you are on the outside? Matt.23:25 Pause here to present your heart and soul, mind and body before God's loving gaze. ‘Here we are Lord, Once again in our depravity and humility we come. We come to you in vulnerability and in our own nakedness in need of your robes of righteousness and grace. Clothe us today with your redeeming power that you freely give us to live a life that is good and true. May we be the kind of people that will stand under and hold up those that are different from us. May we have eyes to look on others with understanding from your heart. And when we offend another may we be quick to confess our offense and make amends. We ask for your grace to fall on our land and on your people who call on your name and seek your face. We want to be a blessing this day that where we go we will leave behind springs of living waters to drink from in the dry land. Encourage our hearts and strengthen our hands to show your hope and hold fast in faith. We receive your blessing of peace and see your face that shines upon us. May we shine this glow with your spirit of love and kindness.. Amen August 23 Prayer.
The skies are beginning to clear with a blue breaking above the smoke below. I read these words, ‘Come and follow me. Come and see the one we have found. I have seen you and know who you are. You will see greater things and the heavens open up. ’John’1:45-51 Jesus found Philip and called out,’follow me.’ Philip found his brother and called him to come and see the one he found. Jesus knows and calls out the greater good within Nathaniel. ‘Here is a genuine, honest man without any deceit’. He then says, ‘you will see greater things when the heavens open up.!’ He sees you right where you are. With your doubts and skepticism. Can anything good come out of this? Nathaniel replies to his brother and we too hold the same question. Can anything good come out of these troubling times, these storms of division and doubts we are all facing ? Come and see the heavens open up before you! Expect the greater things ahead. We have the opportunity to believe and trust and follow the one that is the remedy . Pause and think about Jesus knowing everything about you. See his eyes of love with compassion come upon you. Hear his words of affirmation calling out , ‘You are an honest person, without any hidden motives. You are pure and I see you that way.’ I know the best you and I created you for greater things. Receive his words to you. Respond in prayer, ‘God, you alone are good. Open the heavens for our eyes to see who you really are. Not a god made by man to understand. You are the one we desire to follow. The way of life and truth. May we look for the greater things within us that you already see. May we look for the opportunities to tell of who you are that we have found. To say, ‘come and see the one who leads us in a greater way. May we see the good in each other and call it out. May we expect you, Jesus to be here with us so we may live the life of glory you have designed for us to live. Let us boldly yet gently lead others to come and see You, Jesus. The remedy for every soul. We follow your way of life today. Thanks be to God who loves all.’ Amen August 22 Prayer
“Oh the depths of the riches both of the wisdom and the knowledge of God! How impossible it is for us to understand his decisions and his ways. For who has known the mind of the Lord? Who knows enough to give him advice? And who has given him so much that he needs to pay it back? “For everything comes from him and exists by his power and is intended for his glory. All glory to him forever! Amen.” Romans 11:33-36 Stop and be here a while to still all the questions and understanding in your mind. There is a depth in the reservoir of God's being that is beyond understanding yet is to be found as we seek his presence with our whole heart. Jer.29:13 His knowing is beyond our knowing His glory is in all things he has made to reveal who he is. We are invited into this glory as his very own created beings to become a dwelling place for God. Beyond understanding! Breathe deeply in the depth of all that is beyond you . To pray this prayer ‘Lord I surrender all My imagination , My memories, My understanding of why things are the way they are. All that I am, and all that I have You have given to me and to you Lord I return it. Give me your love and your grace For you are enough for me.’ May we each seek You with our whole heart to know You where Your glory dwells. For from You and in You and through You are all things. To God be the glory forever! Amen August 21 Prayer
Breathe new life in me today, I pray . Where there is deadness, dryness, broken hopes , come from the four winds and breathe upon your people. Open our graves and bring us back to life again. Ez.37. Let His Holy, powerful, Spirit breathe new life into the loss of hope and faith. Let his strength rise up into your very body and begin again to move by his spirit. We move into our faith by stepping out one step at a time. By taking one breathe at a time. Proclaiming life to the deadness around us. Light into the darkness. Breath to the lifeless. I live because I know my redeemer lives in me! We have the greatest hope of all no matter what comes. Welcome this breath of hope today and be that hope to others. ‘Thank you Lord, that you will act and bring the power of new hope and life to your people. Breathe your strength and protection to all those that are fleeing the fires and fighting to put them out. We praise who you are in our midst to act and show your power through us. We say yes to hope and yes new life! Praise be to the Gather and the Son and the Holy Spirit.’ Amen August 20 Prayer
Waking up to smoke, grey skies and clouds over the sea. It’s thick in the air, without any distant visibility. It’s disturbingly hard to breathe. I’m reminded of Teresa of Avila’s words in a song,, ‘Let nothing disturb you, Let nothing frighten you, All things are passing away; God never changes, Patience obtains all things, Whoever has God lacks nothing, God alone suffices.’ God says through Ezekiel’s prophecy 36:25-26 “I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you will be clean. A new heart I will give you, and a new spirit I will put in you; and I will remove from your body the heart of stubborn stone and give you a tender, responsive heart of flesh.’ In all that we are facing, let us lay down everything that disturbs us and allow the heart of God to fill us. We have his new spirit within us to carry his name of hope and holiness. We are made clean. Let’s pray for the washing of his word over our land. ‘God you are enough. You alone are what we need so we ask for you to send your rain upon us now. Cleanse our ways that are not for your love. Make us tender to those that are suffering and fighting within themselves. We allow you to remove the stubborn places in our own hearts which can be painful. We accept your generous and patient love for us and return it to you. Show us how to do this. Give back the love you give to us. We pray for the fires of the land to be snuffed out and the air to be cleared. Provide protection and wisdom for those responders that are working day and night. Comfort the families that are displaced and in fear of losing their homes and possessions. May they come to know you in a greater way. May your presence surround them with peace. We thank you that you are our everything and that we know your grace. Sprinkle us clean again this day. We pray. All glory be to Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Amen |
