October 4 Prayer
… ‘My word will not return to me empty but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.’ Is.55:10-11 When Jesus spoke words he told many stories. Words create a place and space to enter in and soon those words become a part of our stories. A seed to be planted and nourished is a word of truth through the story of the seed and the sower. A story of mercy and compassion becomes a word to challenge the mind and reveal the heart through the story of the good neighbor. Today I ask where I am listening to a word for me? What am I able to see with the eyes of my heart that would allow the intention of God’s word to be fulfilled in me? Could it be right outside my window or right in my home that there is a word just for me? See yourself as rich soil, soft and already tilled accepting the seed being planted and watered there. Praying, Lord here’s my heart and here’s my mind. Make them the prepared soil for all of your desires to be fulfilled within me today. Ready to receive and accept a truth that will accomplish a greater good for my neighbor. Here’s my heart and here’s my mind, here are my hands and when necessary use my mouth to speak. May I speak nourishing words that creates something beautiful through the story of my life. May I know that where you send me is where your word will go forth and not come back empty. Saturday’s slowdown. Sometimes it takes a vacation, a time to play before you really notice what makes you tick. A slowing down of time and pressures, a loss of rhythm, until you are able to free float into the beauty of the moment. Lord, Let this be that kind of kairos time when everything slows down enough to notice the very being that we are and what holds us so tightly. Let this be the kind of time that allows one to enter into the beauty of being. No matter what the atmosphere is around you, try to hold space for a little bit of time to notice that lucid mystery of being you. Then let all your questions, the imaginings and pleadings and see them float into thin air. Like a free fall. For God is there holding you and all that will open up to you today. Praise be to the Father, the Son and Holy Spirit for this very existence of a slowing down time. Amen Dee Brill October 1 Prayer
“The Lord is Compassionate and merciful, slow to anger and filled with unfailing love.” Ps.103:8-9 Compassion in the Hebrew word has a homonym that means “womb”. Could it be that The lord carries his people like a mother carries a child in her womb? St. Therese de Liseux is known by ‘the little way’ she chose to live by. “My vocation is love.” so she sought out to be surrendered to the love that filled her. Could it be that each of us have this kind of love within us when we say yes to God? When we say no to every other selfish drive and be fully compelled by his love? For some of us little acts of love may come easier than others. For some not so. We must learn how to love in this way. Let us not refuse the One who alone can rescue us from our false assumptions and judgments. Perhaps we could start by noticing. What is it that awakens compassion within you? That is where love begins to enter. The morning light shines so bright in what you see that it almost is too much to take in. Let it shine on the one thing, the one little tug on your heart and then respond to it with love. As you breathe in another moment's breath let it be one filled with his spirit of love. We pray , Lord, you’re so kind and tenderhearted and patient with people who fail you! Your love is like a flooding river overflowing its banks with kindness. Let us be aware of the love inside of us that is you. May we be so compelled by your love that it flows every so freely in the little things we do. In little ways you call us to. Fill us once again we pray to overflow this day. Amen Dee Brill Psalm 103 TPT |
