September 2 Prayer
Jesus climbs into Simon's boat, pushed out from the shore to teach…
We each have a story of where Christ meets us.
When he comes into our immediate circumstances,
climbs into our washed up boats and then calls us forth.
He calls each of us to meet him right where we are and
to follow him right where He is.
Pause a moment to examine where you are today.
What disappointments are you holding?
Where have you given up on faith,
in yourself or in others?
See Jesus come near and be right where you are with your thoughts.
Pause here a while...
What does He want to say to you?
‘My child, I have made you just as you are and I accept you fully as you are right now.
Let me be the one to destroy all that holds you back,
shame and fear has no place here.
I am calling you out into the larger body of water
that will be a place of freedom when you follow me.
Bring to me all of your gifts, your knowledge and desires
and let me reshape them to use them for my glory in this world.
Who you are not is no longer needed but
who you are when you follow me.
‘Let the simplicity of my image that is
in the depths of you
be set free to serve me in peace.
Respond in prayer,
Yes, Lord, I will follow you into new seas of possibilities
with this one life you have given to me.
As the psalmist writes;
‘There is no end to the discovery
of the greatness that surrounds you...
You have captured our attention
and the eyes of all look to you…..
The beautiful Lord of holiness from now through eternity.’
