August 17 Prayer
Peter is so honest when he asks, ‘What's in it for me? What do we get out of following you?’ Matt.19:23-30
If we could be that real with God and share what’s going on inside of us
we will find out much more who the godhead is and who we are.
Pay attention to the inner stirrings, the push and pull, and the
true desires of your heart.
There is no shame here but freedom to come,
freedom to accept where you are and the freedom to move ahead.
Take a moment to be honest with yourself,
lay your struggles and fears openly before the Holy Spirit now.
‘With our palms up we offer our complete selves to you, Lord.
There are good things that you have prepared for us that we do not yet see.
Show us the things we possess whether they possess us more than we possess them.
Whether it be time, statute or power, or material wealth.
Fill us with the warmth of your love, so that by loving you
above all other things
we will partake of your promise.
May this be a place to learn and grow into all you have prepared for us
to take hold of and to let go of.
Let us be your house of prayer.
Strengthen your people today all around the world.
We pray for a saving refuge in the midst of an evil storm.
We pray for wisdom and faith for your people that are waiting to be rescued.
Give them courage, boldness, faith and hope today.
Let us follow you with an honest and open heart
and say yes to where you lead.
Jesus, lead on.
‘The Lord is my strength and my shield.I trust him with all my heart.’ Ps. 28
