August 14 prayer
Time to Savor one dream from the night,
An injured chick is placed in my hands.
I’m holding him firmly
Wings pinned down
With a white, wet and
warm washcloth I dab the wound
to absorb all of the red blood.
He struggles and squirms to be set free
I press ever so gently,
softly to bring healing to his wing.
I do not let him go until he is relaxed
enough to rest in the palm of my hands.
I rest in the large palms of eternity’s hands
I cannot care for the whole world but
I can take care of my own soul.
Today I am held by loves firm hands.
God is bigger and stronger and a much better healer.
I think I may relax here a while
so I may be free to fly once again.
