August 18 Prayer
We are seen by God, Loved by the Three, Belonging at home when we open the door. When we encounter Jesus we encounter our selves. There we change through making amends. Turning around and doing what is right. We discover our true selves. Called out by Peace to be a dwelling place and carry that peace wherever we go There is a rule and reign that is pure and true and that reign is not above us but living in us. May we open the door to Jesus living inside of us today. May you rule and reign over every thought, word and deed. We give you the keys to our hearts to unlock all of your goodness and purpose stored inside. May we be bearers of your shalom offering completeness to others in gentleness and love. May we become like trees bearing the fruit that was meant to be from the seeds that the God of peace has planted. Peter is so honest when he asks, ‘What's in it for me? What do we get out of following you?’ Matt.19:23-30 If we could be that real with God and share what’s going on inside of us we will find out much more who the godhead is and who we are. Pay attention to the inner stirrings, the push and pull, and the true desires of your heart. There is no shame here but freedom to come, freedom to accept where you are and the freedom to move ahead. Take a moment to be honest with yourself, lay your struggles and fears openly before the Holy Spirit now. ‘With our palms up we offer our complete selves to you, Lord. There are good things that you have prepared for us that we do not yet see. Show us the things we possess whether they possess us more than we possess them. Whether it be time, statute or power, or material wealth. Fill us with the warmth of your love, so that by loving you above all other things we will partake of your promise. May this be a place to learn and grow into all you have prepared for us to take hold of and to let go of. Let us be your house of prayer. Strengthen your people today all around the world. We pray for a saving refuge in the midst of an evil storm. We pray for wisdom and faith for your people that are waiting to be rescued. Give them courage, boldness, faith and hope today. Let us follow you with an honest and open heart and say yes to where you lead. Jesus, lead on. ‘Now I am deeply discouraged, But I will remember you- My deep need calls out to the deep kindness of love.’ Ps.42:6-8 Each day there is a pouring out from heaven above. Listen to the roaring seas where the waves never cease to sweep. Let them cover all of the dry and desperate cries with unfailing love. There is always hope. And always kindness when we are able to ponder and believe in the goodness of God. Today I give thanks and put my hope in God. Today I pray for every down cast soul, For you, Lord are the helper and lifter of those that are weighed down. Lift their spirits today to behold your beauty in the simplicity of creation and in the complexity of your glory. We pray for those held captive by evil that you would frustrate the plans of the enemy. Give your people hope to stand together in prayer for supernatural protection in the world of terror. Wrap us up in your glory that our presence becomes a gateway for hope. May our eyes see from a purity of heart to expand the walls of our own world and see beyond. Help us today, Lord, to pause in between and notice the things you want us to attend to and pray. Let our lives become your breath Prayer of peace whoever we go. Saturday Slowdown Time to Savor one dream from the night, An injured chick is placed in my hands. I’m holding him firmly Wings pinned down With a white, wet and warm washcloth I dab the wound to absorb all of the red blood. He struggles and squirms to be set free I press ever so gently, softly to bring healing to his wing. I do not let him go until he is relaxed enough to rest in the palm of my hands. Today, I rest in the large palms of eternity’s hands I cannot care for the whole world but I can take care of my own soul. Today I am held by loves firm hands. God is bigger and stronger and a much better healer. I think I may relax here a while so I may be free to fly once again. DB Ps.121, Matt 23:37 August 13 Prayer
‘Lord , I come with my questions in all that is placed in my hands to hold. To Pray, Meet me here, that I might listen to what you have to say. Meet me here, to discern what seems good to me and what is the most real thing. Meet me here, when the door has closed and shut in on what I think is the right way, help me see that you are the one who opens the door and teach me what is true, good and beautiful. Meet me here, Lord. Point me to Jesus, in every conversation, in every conflict and tribulation, in my prayers and hopes for the world that is at odds. Meet us here, as your created people for such a time as this. Meet us where we will take the time to listen to your heart and cry out for love and truth, for justice and peace! God of peace, We ask you to eradicate every evil scheme from the enemy that divides us. God of grace, Diffuse all of the disunity and divisions in your church. May we see the greater good, that which is Jesus calling us to care, calling us to tear down the walls, calling us into his peace. Meet us here Lord, where mercy and truth will meet, justice and peace will kiss. God of triumph, May we be examples of the kind of peace that will bring hope into the world. What does it feel like to know that we have peace with God? He has made everything right that was wrong in our lives. Because of Jesus, the revealed glory of the Father we are made whole, complete, forgiven. When we know this kind of wholeness then we can go about bringing wholeness to others. When we are able to endure our own sufferings and wrongs being forgiven then we are able to forgive others . We have walked through our losses with the Holy Spirit of love and comfort that make us whole. When we have received Peace with God that changes everything. It can change the way we are with others in their griefs and wrongs. It can open up a window of truth shifting our views and false narratives. Pray to the Godhead of mercy and unfailing love; I give you my own sufferings today and the sufferings of others. In all that is wrong I look for your peace to come and make things right. May we grow in revealing your shared glory through the way we share in the sufferings of others. May we bring the gospel of peace and completeness having hope with your love that endures. Change our hearts into the heart of Jesus, sharing his glory, the kind of glory that fills all of the broken empty holes in our own souls becoming a vessel of your peace. May we be poured out to fill the holes in others through offering that kind of forgiveness you have already given to us. Change us into your kind of peace, your kind of love, 77 times more. We will have disagreements as long as we are here on earth. We are told to agree together on earth what is already being done in heaven. When we come together In one accord to pray we align ourselves with Jesus as the common ground. It’s really does not need to be so complicated but somehow it becomes so. If we humble ourselves to sit in prayer with the loving gaze of God upon us then soon the gaze is returned. It becomes reciprocal. He holds our opposing hands together to listen to our hearts, healing our need to be right until our egos melt away into his gaze. We become prisoners there held to the ground of being. Being acknowledged, Being loved, Being in accord with God. Prisoners we are, but prisoners of hope, which opens the doorway into peacemaking. Confess your need to pray; ‘I do not have all the answers but my soul needs to know you know me. And my soul needs to know your loving gaze so I may look outwards to those that disagree and see them from this stance. Peacemaking is not easy so I ask for your grace to strengthen me. Strengthen us all in your love as we pray this day, and loosen the strongholds of our egos to fade away into your presence there in our midst. I wonder what it would be like if ... Every time we come together to pray, we close our mouths and sit in your loving gaze before we ask anything from you. Could we come to an agreement through this kind of prayer…. “The glory of your splendor is our strength, and your marvelous favor makes us stronger, lifting us higher.” If we serve you and follow you then we will be where you are. Losing our lives is the process of living fully alive in the light of Christ. Today I get up once again to make the bed, tend the garden, and create with God a pathway for his light to come. I choose compassion over frustration, mercy over irritation, attentiveness over distractions. Bless our spirits we pray, Enrich our lives with every gift of the Spirit. Lift us higher and preserve us with your grace. Do not let our eyes be closed to the suffering of others, Nor our ears deaf to the cries of the hopeless. For we are all dying daily, May we see that there is a path of peace and justice rising up. May we sow bountifully your grace everywhere we go. May we create space for the path of peace to light the way. That all may enter into this marvelous splendor, this life that is abundant, full of wonder that will never fade.. Watch and wait The kingdom of God is like that Be ready for it A lit lamp a fire inside burning so you do not end up in the dark distracted by fleeting worries of what will not come. Keep your lamp filled with oil from the Holy Spirit. True faith waits and confident faith receives when our eyes are fixed on the author and finisher of it all. Praying; ‘We are watching and we are waiting.. looking for your love. Today lift our hearts and spirits to the ways You love. May we see the open doors of the souls waiting and watching too. Light the fire again inside of your church to bring hope in the dark and dying. For we are your body, the lamp that is ready. Ignite us with a love that will never burn out. We pray. Saturday Slowdown Slowdown the pace today and find a grace in the everything… Tasks left undone. In the cleaning and the working of the hands. Pause to be present in the mundane chores Offered as prayer and praise, Let the washing become cleansing for your soul. Rest in the child’s laughter and even in their complaining and demands that drive you crazy. Slowdown your beating heart and Look for a grace there. In the push and pull, take time to breathe in the shower and pray for rain. Slowdown for a second hot cup and watch the steam rise letting your prayers go up with it. As you slow down to notice where the cracks are opening up to let the light break in. Lean into grace today as you are present in everything you do. “Love the lord alone, with all your heart, and all your soul, and with all your strength. ….Speak these words … whether you are busy or at rest, bind them at your wrist to be ever before you.’ Deut.6:4-8 DB |
