Meet some of our artists!

Amy
Amy has been a Cambria resident for 15 years, moving to the central coast from Los Angeles. Her love for photography became a passion in 2010. Most of her exhibits have been in coffee houses, however, last summer she was awarded in the top three of five categories at the Mid-State Fair in Paso Robles, CA.

"What I love about photography is the capturing of candid moments that can never be repeated; making time stand still.  Living on the Central Coast is like discovering a new treasure through the lens each day. Beauty abounds!"

Frank is a retired High School art teacher with 30+ years experience in the public schools. Currently, he is working part-time as a Marriage and Family Therapist in Cambria. He is passionate about the arts and, as a former art teacher, has experience with a wide variety of media. "Married for 44 years, I have a busy life making art, chasing after 10 grandchildren, and enjoying living at the central coast. I also have an active Etsy site where I sell my ceramics work."

Jayne
Local Cambria artist Jayne Koontz is well recognized for her versatile murals,
trompe l'oeil designs and decorative interior details. She has been commissioned by designers, and business and home owners for over thirty years.
You can see Jayne's work at the French Corner Bakery, Robin's Restaurant and the Cambria Pines Lodge to name a few. She also has her own coloring book and has illustrated four children's books for local authors.

Paula has been a Cambria resident since 1984. Her passion for painting started in Michigan in 1972 where she attended Schoolcraft College. Shirley Pitman, a famous local artist, was a huge inspiration and encouraged her to join the Wednesday Irregulars painter’s group. It’s a joy for her to paint outdoors in such natural beauty.
Paula’s medium for painting is water color and oil. Bright colors inspire her imagination and give her the passion to keep painting. She has been a member of Allied Arts Center since 2010 where she currently exhibits her art.

Rick and Susan Oyler
Ruthanne
Ruthanne Howald began painting in the late '70's under the teaching of Betty Weis and Nixon Borah in Southern California. Sidelined for 20 plus years as an Activity Director, she resumed painting again three years ago after moving to Cambria.
Inspired by her faith and the beauty all around us on the Central Coast, her new series of paintings reflects that love and the awe she feels as she hikes with her husband Werner around the area. Color, texture and nature are the way she expresses the matter of her heart.

Kelly and his wife have lived in Cambria for over 20 years now and have come to love this town and the creative community that abounds here.  He works with various mediums (such as spray paint, stencils, wood, clay, and ink).  Over the years he has been drawn toward graffiti art and the graphic elements used. Each new piece takes on a dynamic presence of it's own as the colors and shapes change with each layer. Clay sculpting has allowed an additional creative outlet. "Art is what you get out of it, it may move you, inspire you, or just calm your spirit, but it is the heart of each artist to be shared.  I thank you for the opportunity to share something of myself as a way of contributing back to the community."

Denise
Denise has always loved art as early as she can remember. As a child growing up in San Francisco Bay Area her mother hired an art teacher and she learned to sketch the world around. In college, she pursued fashion design and took various art classes. She dabbled in textiles, sculpture wood and clay, and ended up teaching art as a docent for kids at elementary schools in Lafayette, California for many years.
Living in Cambria off and on since 1980 I joined the Wednesday irregulars to learn plein air painting and enjoy the delightful group of artist’s different styles and their encouragement.
Having been a watercolorist off and on over the years, she is being drawn back to acrylics and oils.
"I know that my artist style will always change, evolve and emerge in the days ahead. My passion is finding beauty in creation and the Creator. I believe that there is an artist within everyone and find myself promoting anyone with the slight interest in art." Her ‘other job is serving as an associate Pastor at Cambria Vineyard Church where she is involved with the worship arts and the Spiritual Direction of others.
"I love sharing my art so please do enjoy!"

We exist to love God, love others, and to help them do that, too!
